Card 0: the leap
The Fool is the card of beginnings — the figure stepping off the edge with a bag on a stick and no plan that would survive contact with an adult. It's also the only honest way to describe starting a musical.
The Fool's Journey is a live odyssey of EDM, dance and drama: one dancer falling through the tarot's major arcana, out of the Era of Excess, into whatever comes next. Part club night, part ritual, all live. Book and lyrics by me; music by Richard Maltese.
Where it stands, honestly: the book is written — a full draft, currently on version four, which means three earlier versions have already been lovingly killed. Twenty songs live inside the story. There's a poster. There's this site. There is not yet a stage, a cast, or a producer — that's what this journal is for. You're watching the deck get built before it's shuffled.
Next up: the first table read. Ten chairs, one stopwatch, and the first time this story gets spoken by voices that aren't mine.
Just keep on dancin'.
